Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Diagram, rod bolts, float bowl

Question
I've been reading all the post and have found some great information.  My mower, bought at a garage sale for 15$, ran good for two mows. Then started smoking and cutting out.  I need a diagram to help me identify the pieces, ie carborator.  Its a Craftsman 6.5 hp propelled (green in color).  I've been having a hard time locating any thing to help me identify these parts and the components inside of them.  I'm really excited about getting this thing started again.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would also like to mention a clanking sound.  Thought is was the plastic piece above the blade that protects the belt to the front self propell, removed it and still hearing the clack?

Answer
The clanking sound could be a loose blade, a bad blade adapter or worst case loosed rod bolts.

Remove the spark plug and check the blade bolt.  You may want to remove the blade and blade adapter to inspect for wear.

As for the starting, I would replace the spark plug.  If that does not fix it then you should drain the fuel tank, remove the float bowl nut located on the bottom of the carb and drain the carb.

For parts information you can go to sears.com and type in your model number.

Let me know what you find.
