Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 18 hp briggs and stratton, briggs and stratton, hp briggs

I have a riding mower with a 18hp Briggs and Stratton. It will only run with the choke full out. Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

It sounds like a lack of fuel flow.  Check for a good flow from the fuel tank at the fuel line as it enters the carb.  If okay, the carb most likely has dirt, debris or gummed fuel inside.
You will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.   Probe each and every hole with a small wire.   A carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.
