Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftman Lawn Mower, craftsman lawn mower, spark plug

Question
I have a craftsman lawn mower 6.75 and I need to give it a tune up how do I drain the oil ? And how do i know if the spark plug needs changing ? I took it out and the end was black.

Answer
To drain the oil there is a plug on the bottom of the engine.  An eaiser method to drain the oil is to use a drill operated pump.  You can find these at many stores.  Just start and run the engine for 5 to 10 minutes to warn the oil, remvoe the oil fill plug/dip stick, insert the hose and turn on your drill and suck the oil out of the engine.  After the oil is removed just fill it up with SAE 30 oil; about 12-16 ounces or half a quart.

As for the plug, we change these on every tune-up. We frequently have plug fail so we no longer clean them...cheaper to replace.

Let me know if this helps.
