i have a sears model # 502256126 rider i got for free ,i havent got it started yet but its trying,the problem is while it is trying to start its spitting oil out the bottom looks like its coming from the shaft or near it help please thanks

Check the seal on the bottom of the engine.  You may have to remove the pulley to see the seal.

Does the engine have compression?

I would also check the gasket on the lower part of the engine.  You may want to degrease the engine...this will help find the oil leak.

Let me know what you find and about the compression.
