Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): flooding....will not start, engine cylinder, excess oil

would you know what causes the gas to pour out of
the exhaust every time i try to start the lawn
motor up....carburator problems i presume.
     can you help me

Answer
This is caused by the carburetor inlet needle not sealing correctly.  At some point the inlet needle allowed gas to continue flowing into the engine.  This can be caused by dirt/debris, a bad float or bad inlet needle/seat.

You will have to drain the fuel tank, change the engine oil and clean/rebuild the carb.

I would recommend removing the spark plug after you have drained all the fluids and then pull the string in order to remove excess oil from the engine cylinder and muffler.
