Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman lawnmower, craftman, exaust

Question
my husband has been gvn a lawnmower, a craftsman II, eagle I 4.0 engine.  motor is good but cannot get it to stay started. seems to be getting to much gas through the exaust?  have changed the black tubing that goes to tank/primer.  steve is also going to change the gasket.  put new gas in mower and have cleaned the carb. changed the plug. still will not stay running.  what next?   thanks for the input.

Answer
Most likely the problem is in the carb.  Craftman carbs either work really well or not at all.  Sometimes we have to clean the carbs a couple of times for them to work correctly.

Do you have an air compressor to blow out the carb orfices?  Make sure the carb bowl nut orfices are clean...these holes provide most of the fuel for the engine.

Let me know about the compressor.
