Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Hard to start lawnmover, sears, priming

Question
Re: Sears lawnmover.

This machine is only a couple years old, and it's hard to start.

I've had Sears mowers before, and I could usually drag them out after being inactive all winter, and they'd start on the first or second pull.

This one won't start unless I've pushed the priming bulb about 50 times.  This is for every start all season long, not just the first time in the Spring.

Once it starts it runs OK and restarts as long as it's still warm.

Answer
Hi Dorsey,

The carb most likely has dirt, debris or gummed fuel inside.  If that's okay, you will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.   Probe each and every hole with a small wire.   A carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.

Let me know how you make out.
