Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumsah 6.5 Easy Start engine - putting carb back together, carburetor, low speed

Question
Michael:  I was working on a starting problem and got carried away.  I've forgotten where the springs on top of the carburetor are connected.  The lawnmower didn't run in the configuation I put it back in.  It would start and stall.  I had also previously cleaned the bolt and carb bowl.  Also, are there any other adjustments I could have messed up?

Thanks, Phil D.

Answer
Hi Phil,

All I can say about the springs is to look closely at the holes for wear spots, indicating where the springs were.  Next, set the large high speed mixture screw at 1&1/2 turns out and the smaller low speed screw at 3/4 turn out.  Adjust them further if needed.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
