Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No Spark on Wheel Horse Tractor, toro wheel horse, kawasaki engine

Question
I have a 12.5 HP Kawasaki engine on a Toro Wheel Horse lawn tractor bought in 1989.  I am getting no spark whatsoever when I crank the engine.  I have tried the plug in another engine and it fired OK and ran. Checked for continuity in wires leading from switch to ignition coil and igniter and all seem OK.  Don't know where to go from here.  Can you help?  Am I now looking at replacing coil and igniter?

Answer
It could be a safety switch preventing the coil or igniter from producing spark.

Do you have a one piece coil or do you have a coil and a seperate igniter?  You will probably have to remove the engine blower housing, the top sheet metal/plastic cover, to check for sure.

Let me know.
