Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No Spark, toro wheel horse, kawasaki engine

Question
I have a 12.5 HP Kawasaki engine on a Toro Wheel Horse lawn tractor.  I am getting no spark whatsoever when I crank the engine.  I have tried the plug in another engine and it fired OK and ran.  Don't know where to go from here.  Can you help?

Thanks,

Answer
The first thing I would check is the safety switch at the seat, if equipped.  You can bypass it using a jumper wire.  If you now have spark, the switch needs adjustment (if possible) or replacement.  If this doesn't help, locate all of the shut-off leads at the engine terminal (a few small gauge wires will have a common connection point).  Disconnect all of these wires from the engine and check for spark.  If you have no spark still, the problem is the ignition module.  If you have spark now, you will need to follow these shut-off leads to their various connection points (seat switch, key switch, etc.) and also make sure none are bare and touching chassis ground.  Hope this helps.
