Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mower fading after start, sears craftsman, craftsman model

Question
I will try the carb cleaner today. But what is happening is I prime it and then pull start. It will run for 2 secs and then cut out. If i try pushing the primer during this time, still no luck. I have fresh fuel and a fuel additive to try and help. I have taken the bowl off numerous times and still no luck. On this mower, is the bowl the area to clean, or do I need to get the piece that the bowl attach's to? The bowl has a float and a brass hole.
mower is a Sears Craftsman, Model # 917.377271
motor is a Craftsman 4-cycle engine #143-976500

Thanks for the help

Answer
First, try loosening the fuel cap.  If this alleviates the problem, you need to replace the fuel cap as the vent is plugged.  Otherwise, you will need to thoroughly clean the carb (the piece the float bowl attaches to) using a piece of tag wire to push through all of the internal passages and follow up with aerosol carb cleaner.  It usually takes a piece of wire to dislodge a blockage properly.  Hope this helps.
