Did you clean the battery terminals and the cable ends with a wire brush before you installed the battery?

How easy does it turn over when you jump it?

Let me know.
Eric All have been cleaned and it starts fine when it is jumped

Answer
Since it starts fine when jumped then the battery may be bad; I would have the battery load tested to check it out.

It's possible the battery cables or starter could be going bad but we rarely find bad starters or cables.  I've found only one mower that needed cable replacement and only a couple where the starter was bad.  Most of the time it was the battery or dirty terminals.

Make sure you use a good battery load tester to test the battery.
