Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): transmission problems, forward gear, transmission problem

I have a couple of different riding lawn mowers around here but on my Murray it was working and running fine and for no reason stopped proceeding forward. no noise was heard and now it seems to me that it is probably a transmission problem since it won't move in any forward gear or reverse. What are your thoughts on this

Hi Jeff,

First, I would rule out an easier fix.  Check the drive belt.  If it's okay.  Use a helper to watch the transaxle pulley to see if it is turning.  If it is, then you most likely do have problems there, as you suspected.  Getting into that, might not be worth the time and expense, depending on the age and condition of the mower.
