Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snowblower wheels, bolens snowblower, side question

Question
i own a older bolens snowblower. the wheels started to get loose and each wheel started to slide out from each side (axle attached) the axle meets up in the middle each end has a gear on it. on the outside of one wheel there seems to be a pin that came out that allowed one wheel to start sliding loose.  there is no pin on the other side .  question is  whe the axle meets up in the middle how do they stay tight together so that the wheel with no pin stays in position as well?

Answer
Most manufactures use a pin and an R clip to keep the wheel in place.

You will have to look at the axle.  It may have a hole for a pin or the end of the axle could be splined, drilled and tapped for a bolts or a groove cut for a C clip.

Is the axle actually coming out?
Let me know.
