Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): My 1998 KIA Sportage 4X4,4 cyl., 2.0 L , 4 door, Manual Tranamission, kia sportage, machanics

Question
I am a divorced mother of 4, and on limited income. I had to replace my water pump and the the motor jumped time. I have contacted nearby machanics, and was told it would cost between $300 and $400 dollars to fix. I even asked if they could tell me how it was suppost to line up, but they wouldn't. I was wondering if I might be able to do it myself, and if I could get the right marks?

Answer
Hi Terri,

There should be marks on the cam pulley/s but without a service manual it might be hard to get everything in sync.  You could take look at the pulley/s but to get them to move would also be difficult.

Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

Good Luck,
Michael
