hi i have a old briggs and stratton engine 2hp dont know year im trying to get it running it wont start i cleaned the carb changed the gas and spark plug and there is no spark but if i hold the coil in my hand and pull it it will shock me i was thinking it was a weak coil but maybe something else

It sounds like you are getting a slight spark.  This is likely caused by poor points and condensor.  These are common replacement parts and any Briggs dealer can get them for you.  If there are no numbers on the engine, take in the old points and condensor.  If you need further assistance on how to change these, let me know.  Hope this helps.
