Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda hs 35 snowblower only runs when choked, honda snowblower, gas filter

Hi. I have a hs35 honda snowblower that will only run when fully choked. I pulled the carb and cleaned it, put in fresh gas, regapped the plug, bypassed the gas filter and fuel valve, to no avail. Everything looks good( needle valve, float and jet all seem clean and functioning properly). I got this from my father-in-law, who bought it new, and he says it never worked right. Any ideas?

Hi Bill,

I would still suspect a lack of fuel flow to the engine.  Re-clean the carb.  Probe each and every hole with a small wire then blow it out with compressed air.  If still no go, then replace the carb.
