Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snowmoble wet plug, plug cap, timing light

Question
I have a 87 Ski-Doo Escapade. It ran fine last year. This past summer I took the carbs off and cleaned them. It starts fine and runs ok, but at idle it seems to load up. when I pull the plugs the left one is tan and dry, but the right one is aways wet.  I was very careful when I cleaned the carbs. any ideals? Thanks Bob

Answer
It's likely that you have an issue with the float height, something as simple as the idle mixture adjustment or a problem with the plug cap.  Try switching the plug caps, cylinder for cylinder (they unscrew off the wire) and see if the other cylinder now exhibits this problem.  If not, connect a timing light to each plug lead and observe the spark pattern (if there is any missing, the problem will be visible in the timing light) and if there is a problem you will need to further diagnose the ignition system.  If there is no ignition problem, double check that everything is correct with the carbs, intakes, etc.  Hope this helps.
