Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): carb fuel leak, seat assembly, tecumseh engine

Question
I have a lauson carb on a tecumseh engine. There ia hole the size of a pin (almost not visible with the naked eye)streaming gas straight out about three inches. This hole is in the upper part of the metal body.I thought this might be a vent that is getting backed up due to a blockage but if not,how can I mend this.Thank you.Glenn.

Answer
It sounds as though there may be an issue, in general, with uncontrolled fuel flow (flooding).  I suspect, from your description, this is an air bleed hole and the only way fuel could be coming out of it is if the fuel level is reaching it.  I recommend you first inspect the needle and seat assembly and determine if the carb is flooding.  Hope this helps.
