Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears rider mower, solinoid, fuel flow

Question
Marc
I have a Sears 10hp rider mower with a Tecunseh engine...The mower suffered water damage during the hurricane.
I have put a new ignition switch, new solinoid, new carburretor, decarbonized.
I have a spark at the plug and fuel flow but on turning the motor over...its dead
I also set the gap between flywheel and coil to aboutr 1/32.
Is there any way I have upset the timing?
Your help would be most appreciated

Answer
The gap between the flywheel and coil should be 0.010" (1/32 is 0.031").  Otherwise, the timing is fixed.  This gap does have an effect on the timing but it would produce a very weak spark.  Give this a try and let me know if mower still not running.  Hope this helps.
