Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S, recoil starter, small screws

Question
I have an old Murray 2 lawn tiller with a B&S 60102 motor. It will not spark, and acording to the diagram there's a condenser and breaker points under the flywheel. Don't know how to get the flywheel off, there's no nut. There is part of the recoil starter which appears pressed on.

Answer
Hi Brian,

All the recoil components I have seen, come off.  Usually they have at least small screws for removal.  Double check and look for any way you can remove what is covering the nut.  If not, describe the part in more detail or send me a picture if possible.  When you do get access to the nut, I have included some removal tips:
The recommended way to remove a flywheel is to use a puller.  An alternative, is to tap on the crankshaft top, with a brass hammer or use a punch tip on an air
hammer.   The flywheel will need to be held up and supported or upward pressure applied with 2 large prybars. (A 2 person job.) Care is needed so the flywheel doesn't crack or bend.  Also be careful to not mushroom over
the crankshaft top.  Replace the needed ignition parts.  Install the flywheel after cleaning the tapers and re-tighten the nut to 65 ft/lbs.

Let me now how you make out,
Michael
