I have a Toro 6.5 hp B&S, gauranteed to start on first or second pull for 5 years.  It did just that for almost 7 years but when it stopped it refused to start at all.  I put in a new spark plug and it started on the second pull.  The following week when I went to use it again it was the same deal.  I don't want to buy a sparl plug every time I mow the lawn so I am asking if you can help with this?  Thank you,  Melvin

What brand of spark plug are you using?

Has the air filter been serviced lately?
Let me know.

Hi Eric,  the spark plugs I use can be Champion or AC but this last one was one of the special hot plugs for lawnmowers by Champion.  I haven't serviced the air cleaner at all so I guess I better get to doing that.  Always remember it on the vehicles but never think of it on the equipment that seems to run forever.  Thank you,  Melvin

Answer
If the plugs continue to foul I would try an NGK or ND brand plug.  They are a little more difficult to find and cost a bit more but they are much more reliable than the Champion plugs.  We have a lot of trouble with Champion plugs fouling in lawn mowers.  I've even had brand new mowers, right of the the box, with bad Champion plugs.

Let me know how it goes.
