Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): BS 5HP UNDRAFT FLOODS, air suction, fuel flow

Question
I have a 5 hp BS engine with updraft carb.  The engine runs very rich and will not accelerate.  Starts easily, runs continously, but will only idle.  Have cleaned card, replaced diaphram, clean gas, new plug, checked spark - all to no avail.Any ideas?  Model 130202 engine

Answer
Hi Tom,

You will need to find out what is off, not enough air or too much fuel flow.
Check the following:
Adjust the carb to lean it out.  Make sure the air filter is clean.  Check for good air suction at the carb when cranking it over.  Finally, check the ignition timing.

Let me know what you find.
