Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn mower craftsman 4 HP with no spark, condensor, flywheel

Question
Hello there I have an old lawn mower (Craftman 4 HP lawn mower model I43. 984008) thats been sitting around for years. My problem is getting it to spark. I cleaned the armature (3 Points)and took the flywheel off for check, switch / contactor and like a brake it look good.
Any ideas to make it spark. Thank you

Answer
If this has a points ignition, replace the points and condensor because a visual inspection doesn't necessarily indicate their condition.  Make sure the coil to flywheel gap is set to 0.010" and check to make sure none of the shut off leads are contacting ground when they are not supposed as this shorts out the ignition the same way when you want to shut the engine off.  If it's electronic ignition (no points) and there is no problem with grounding out, you will have to replace the ignition module (the gap is also 0.010" between it and the flywheel)  Hope this helps.
