Question -
I just got an old Briggs and Stratton Tiller (Model 130202, Type 0135-04, Code 74011007) from a friend. Problem is that it starts when he uses starter fluid and have to keep spraying the starter fluid to keep it running. As soon as he stops spraying the fluid, it stops. My friend thinks it needs a new carburator. What do you think I should do to pinpont the problem? I need this tiller repaired asap. Thanks in advance for your response.

Hey Mukesh,
This is simple to fix. All you have to do is take appart the carb and soak it in gasoline for a few hours (Mabe 2-3). Then take a pipe cleaner and run it through every small hole in the carburetor. Re soak the carb for 30 minutes and re install it. The tiller should run great. Dont get a new carb if this one is still good. Good Luck. Hope this helps.

Answer
Hey Mukesh,
You would need to use any pipe clenaer you can find. The best would be metal wire bristle pipe cleaner. To determine if you needed a new carb, you msut first attempt to clean the carb. Then if not all goes well or it doesn't work well or at all then order a new one. For part numbers give the model number again and i will look up a new carb and give you the part #. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
