Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): yardman 6 hp wont start, piece tank, float bowl

i have changed the spark plug and air filt.
i even cleaned the screen on the muffler.
its starts quick and dies quick.

it ran for 1hr before problems started.
it runs smooth but not at full power.

This is a classic dirty carburetor symptom.

It is best to remove, dis-assemble and clean the carburetor with compressed air and carb cleaner to fix the problem.

A quick fix can sometimes be performed by removing the carburetor float bowl nut draining the carb bowl and cleaning the nut.  The float bowl nut is actually the high speed jet.

If your carb is not a float style but rather a diaphragm style indicated by a one piece tank/carb assembly then you have to dis-assemble and clean the tank and carb.
