Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mccullough chainsaw, mccullough chainsaw, chain lube

Question
i have a mac3816 twostroke chiansaw. although it is 6 years old it probably only has a couple of hours use.
the chain lube pump has stopped pumping, there is no clog in the blade ports and oil flows out of the supply line from the reservoir,  it looks like i would need to pull the flywheel to access the pump. so, is it less costly to buy a new saw? i don't think i have the proper tools to pull the flywheel. thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Bob,

Parts may be hard to find and unless you can do the work yourself it may not be worth it.  You may be able to remove the flywheel nut with an impact wrench and tap the crankshaft with a brass hammer while supporting the saw by the flywheel.   Or you could buy an inexpensive flywheel puller.

Good Luck,
Michael
