Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Homelite blower wont start, safety cutoff, crankcase

Question
Blower was running great and just died.  Now won't start.  Is there a safety cutoff switch somewhere?  Could I have lost compression?  Pull string cranks engine but doesn't come close to firing.  Spark plug looks okay.  Openewd up right side, exposing crank and saw about tbsp of fuel.  Dumped it but still no start.

Answer
Sounds like you have an issue with the carb.  There shouldn't be raw fuel laying in the crankcase.  To determine if it's a fuel problem, remove the spark plug after trying to start and see whether it's wet or dry.  If it's wet, the problem is either no spark or the carb needs to be cleaned because it isn't metering the fuel correctly.  Hope this helps.
