Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mower Wont Start, craftsman riding lawn mower, briggs and stratton

Question
I have a 1997 Craftsman Riding Lawn Mower. I was mowing the lawn and the lawn mower just died on me. Its a 19.5hp Briggs and Stratton Engine. I replaced the Spark Plugs, I Replaced the air filter, its getting plenty of gas, i took all the rust off the fly wheel, i bought a new coil, and it still wont run. I cant think of anything else to check. All i know is its getting Gas, Its getting spark, and its getting good compression. if u can think of anything let me know.

Answer
Hi Chad,

Correct fuel/air mix, timed spark and good compression.  Those are the  3 things that an engine needs to run.  If you have spark at the plug, fuel in the cylinder and compression, all I can think of is the timing.  It's common for a direct drive push mower to partially shear the flywheel key but not for a rider.  I would check the timing anyway.

Let me know how you make out.
