Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn mower wont cramk, briggs and stratton, throttle linkage

Question
-------------------------
Yes, this mower has a pneumatic governor, and the carborator attaches to the gas tank with a primer bulb.  The bulb does push gas into the carborator when I press it.  I did replace the diaphragm and gasket on the carborator. Does the manual have a part number?

Question -
Initially, the lawn mower would crank but would not accelerate.  I took the carborator off and cleaned it (no parts replaced), cleaned air filter, replaced the spark plug.  That did not fix it.  A few days later it quit running completely and now won't crank at all.  How do you tell if the governor and throttle linkage is correct? I don't know what parts of the carborator can be replaced. What should i do next?  Also, do you know of a specific repair manual for this model?

Briggs and Stratton
Model # 98902
Type 011001

Answer -
Briggs sells a good manual for your engine, actually the manual covers many engine models.  The manual contains all the info you need on governors and it is actually fairly inexpensive.

Do you have pneumatic governor?...you will see air deflector on the coil which connects to the carburetor via a spring and linkage.

Is your carb/tank one assembly with a primer bulb?

Let me know.

Answer
Those governors are very difficult to mess up.   Just make sure the linkage connecting the air vane to the carb is not binding.  The sping is connect from the linkage hole to the throttle plate hole.

Try removing the spring in the carb and see if it runs.  Those screens are very fine and sensative to any debris.

The manual is the single cylinder L head repair manual part number 270962...you can find them on-line or at you local dealer.

Let me know if it runs without the pick-up tube screen.
