Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda HRM215 self propelled transmission, drive shaft, drive train

Question
I recently replace the transmission on my Honda HRM215 self propelled.  I must have missed something very subtle as I reconstructed the drive train because both wheels now want to turn at the same speed, its lost its differential mechanism, and its now hard to turn corners. Apparently there is something called "ratchets" that give the transmission its differential mechanism. Perhaps I reinstalled the half-round keys upside down at both ends of the drive shaft where the gears engage with the wheel?  Pls advise.

Answer
Hi Tom,

You are on the right track.  If I remember, the ratchets DO allow the wheels to overrun the drive gears.  All I can say is to disassemble it and try another configuration.  Flash! Check the wheels for a possible "left wheel on right side".

Let me know how you make out.
