Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No Sure How To Do Compression Test, compression test, plug hole

Hey michael, this might sound a little bit dumb, but how would I be able to do a compression test? Let me know please.Ps. How do i check the timing?

Hi Mike,

A compression test is done with a tester.  The device is held by hand or screwed into the spark plug hole.  You can rent, buy or borrow one.  Timing is usually done by setting the points gap.  Points are located under the flywheel, which is a little involved to remove, so start with the compression test.
