Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): battery charger, dry cell batteries, dry cell battery

Question
I know this isn't really in your field of expertise, but I hope you can help - if not, can you direct me to someone who can?
I have a battery operated golf pushcart. This uses a dry cell battery for which I have a charger that should be used only for dry cell batteries. I have acquired 2 sealed lead acid batteries. Can I use the dry cell charger to recharge these? Many thanks, David.

Answer
Hi David,

If the voltage of the old and new batteries is the same, then you should be able to use the same charger.  I would monitor it for overheating (batteries and charger) during the first use.  If it doesn't work out, then try a small 1 amp automotive or motorcycle trickle charger.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
