QuestionI bought a used 1994 14.5hp B&S Lowes(MTD)lawn tractor. Unfortunately, someone cut ALL of the wires off at the safety switches, including the battery charging system. From drawings I've seen, I can't tell how to rewire the charging system. Also, if the engine is running, the blades are spinning.

AnswerYou are going to have to contact MTD (or a dealer) for a wiring diagram. Make sure you have all of the numbers from the tractor and the engine.
If the blades are still spinning while disengaged, there are a couple of things that could be happening. The belt is the wrong length (short), there is a problem with the belt tensioning assembly not loosening the belt off fully (adjustment) or, if equipped, the blade brake(s) on the pulleys aren't engaging. You will have to visually determine what the problem is. Hope this helps.
