Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears Craftsman Riding Mower 1995, using jumper cables, sears craftsman

Question
Model No is 917.257645 15.0Hp IC, Electric start 6 speed. Engine starts but when I release clutch /Brake , Engines dies. I have tried disconnecting the Switch, interlock, Clutch, 4 Terminal and it will not start with the switch disconnected.  There are two switches one for the foot/Clutch and one for the attachment mower deck.  Is there a way to bypass the two switches until I can get them replaced.  I understand the safety reasons for the switches.  Help please

Wes

Answer
It is difficult to bypass the safety switches because they interface several other switches.  I have tried using paper clips or aligator clips to bypass switches but it is always a guessing game because the manufactures rarely provide information on the safety switch position.

One, kind of easy method to bypass everything is to dis-connect the engine cut-off wire.  This will allow the engine to run, but may not allow the engine to start.

So to answer your question, not really.  You can totally bypass the starter safety by using jumper cables, which is kind of a pain, but it beats rewiring the entire harness.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
