Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman mower, float bowl, fuel drain

Question
My 6.5 hp push mower that is 5yrs old will not start. Out of pulling it for about 20 times it may start once but will not stay started. I have put a newplug in and changed fuel. What else can I do?

Answer
Most likely the carburetor is dirty.  Drain the fuel again.  Get a rag or small container to catch some fuel that will drain out of the carburetor.

Remove the carburetor float bowl nut, located on the bottom of the carburetor.  Let the fuel drain out.  Make sure the holes in the float bowl nut are clean.  Re-install the float bowl nut, being careful not to strip the soft brass threads.  Refill with fuel and check for leaks.

Try to start.  If is still does not start, then you will probably need to remove, dis-assemble and clean the carburetor with compressed air and carburetor cleaner.
Let me know what happens.
