Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper weedeater, exhaust ports, spark arrestor

Question
I have a snapper weedeater that the last few times Ive used it has quit running while using. It just dies after twenty minutes or so of use. Now it wont start at all. I took the cover off the air filter and noticed when I prime it fuel comes out the air side. Fuel lines and bulb are in good shape. It turns over and sounds like a normal crank unless I am holding the throttle, then it sounds choked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike Johnson

Answer
I'd remove the muffler and check for plugged exhaust ports first.  Also make sure the spark arrestor (screen in muffler, if equipped) isn't carbon plugged.  Another issue could be with the ignition system when it gets hot.  If it starts back up after it has cooled, run it until it quits and check for spark after it quits.  If it has no spark, you will need to troubleshoot the ignition system.  Let me know what you find.
