Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Mower Engine, honda gx120, honda mower

Question
My Honda GX120 lawn mower engine will run for about three seconds and stop (assuming about 10 minutes rest between attempts).  I removed and cleaned the carburetor as best I could, but it changed nothing.  As suggested in a previous response, you said this could be due to varnish in the carburetor.  If this is the case, how do I remove the varnish?  The engine was unused for about 6 months prior to this episode, but I had added a preservative to the fuel.
