Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda HR214 mower starts erraticly, honda hr214, spark plug wire

My Honda HR214 will only start after sitting in the hot sun for about an hour. When it doesen't start there is no spark at the spark plug wire. I put a screw driver in there and even my finger and had someone pull to start and there is no spark. Before doing this test I checked the air cleaner, the choke and everything is normal here. What would cause intermittent spark? I took the housing off to check the magneto and adjusted the gap and it started several times. I don't know if it would have started if I hadn't done that. Now it is back to starting only when sitting in the sun. Please help.

Have you replaced the spark plug?  I had a similar problem with an Echo brand trimmer.  I'd take it apart, check the resistance in the module, checked fine, but wouldn't start if you let is sit over night.

I finaly replaced the module.  You might try cleaning the contact area where the module bolts to the engine.  A bad ground can cause no spark.  Try that and replace the plug.
