Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawnmower repair, honda dealer, clutch

Question
While mowing with my Honda self propelled push mower (HRA214 and about 14 years old), I smelled an odor similar to burning plastic. When I released the "blade release" handle, the blade kept turning. I noticed a burned spot on the grass where I had stopped for a moment. The mower still cuts fine, but the blade will not stop turning. And it seems a little harder to pullstart, I guess because the blade is engaged? What does this sound like and is it worth fixing? Am I doing harm by using it as is? Thanks, JOE FEDERICO

Answer
This repair is best left to a Honda dealer.  The blade clutch mechanisms are not an easy thing to work with on a Honda.  It sounds like the blade clutch has heated up (for whatever reason and stayed engaged).  It wouldn't be safe to keep using it.  Hope this helps.
