Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas blower wont start, oil mixture, straight gas

Question
I have a 2 cycle gas blower that was run with straight gas (no oil mixture).  It ran until it stopped.  Do I have any hope of fixing it?

Answer
Hi Ken,

The oil, as you probably know, provides lubrication to the cylinder walls and lower end of the engine.  Without it, the metal parts would overheat and seize.  If the engine cannot be pulled over, the piston and cylinder walls are probably badly scuffed or even melted together.  It would have to be disassembled and inspected but the repair cost may exceed the cost of replacement with a new blower.

Good Luck,
Michael
