Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Weedeater, weedeater, pawl

mdl 6T1 16  17" tap n go. non vibration. Will not start, no resistance when pulling.
I stored it hanging motor down. Probably didn't help matters.  Last year there was no resistance I put a new plug, shook it when it won't start and then it did go, worked all summer.

It sounds like you have a problem with the recoil not engaging and turning the engine over and by shaking it you may be engaging a loose or partially seized starter pawl that should be spring loaded to engage.  If this is not the case and the engine is turning over but has no compression, that's a separate issue that shaking the trimmer shouldn't remedy.  Hope this helps.
