Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kohler engine, hp engine, throttle lever

I have a CUB CADET with an 18 hp engine.
I was cutting the grass and it suddenly started running wide open throttle the throttle lever had no control. What has happend,how do i fix it.

Jerry, it sounds as if the governor let loose. Hopfully the lever on the small shaft just outside the engine loosened up, if not internally the gov gear and flyweight assembly let go. I can't discribe how to adjust the governor but suggest that you get a Sam Sm eng from  the library to help if you do the repair.    Let me know what happens,,,,,bob
