Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): problem briggs & straton motor, briggs straton, carborator

Question
i have a scotts riding mower with a briggs & straton 10.5 motor model #c3011000 i can no longer prime it with the throttle.. after i pour gas into the carborator it will run for a while and stop it does not seem to have the power it once had... can you tell me what the problem is

Thank You   Ray Henry

Answer
Hi Ray,

If it only runs when you add fuel to the carb, then I would suspect a fuel flow problem.  The carb most likely has dirt, debris, gummed fuel or water inside.  You will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.

Let me know how you make out.
