Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): missing something, gas tank, carburator

Question
I have a portable generator with a B&S engine.  It cranks easily, but when I turn off the choke it dies within seconds.  I have done the following: remove old gas
          checked gas tank cap
completely broken down carburator and cleaned
          cleaned gas line and filter
          checked all valve settings

The problem still exists, so I must be MISSING SOMETHING.  Can you suggest what I might try next?

Answer
If it will only run on choke, there is still a blockage inside the carb.  Make sure you push a piece of tag wire through every internal passage and follow up with carb cleaner.  Re-check that there is no debris in the fuel tank and check your gas can too.  Hope this helps.
