Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Hard to start mower, briggs stratton, mulching mower

Question
Hi George -- I have a Murray mulching mower with the Briggs & Stratton Quattro 4 engine. Last year I had what seems to me to be the same machine but with the bagging option. I was able to start last year's just fine, but this new one has me swearing up a storm. I push the primer bulb as instructed, and then when I pull the cord to stop it, it won't move and I end up yanking my arm off and tearing up my hand. On about every 5th yank the motor will turn, but it takes about 30 yanks to get the thing started. This happened since it was new out of the box, and I've cut my grass about 4 times with it. I thought maybe I had to break it in. Any advice? Thanks!

Answer
PATRICIA, I'D TAKE THE THING BACK TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND LOOK AT THEM REAL PITIFUL...I'LL BET THEY'LL GIVE YOU ANOTHER.  IF NOT,  PUSH THAT PRIMER BULB ABOUT SIX TIMES
ALL THE WAY IN SLOWLY.  THEN WITH THE THROTTLE AT THE FASTEST SETTING TRY TO START.  IF THIS DOESN'T HELP, I WOULD CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG THAT SHOULD FOR SURE DO THE TRICK.
