Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh question, oil filter, priming

Question
Hi,
My craftsman 5hp mower is difficult to start(only 3 yrs old).
Changed oil, filter, new gas, plug, also cleaned carb(maybe not well enough?).
Mower seems to need lots of priming and a squirt of starting fluid helps.  After it starts it runs well and doesn't backfire.  Just want to get this
to where it starts w/ only 1 or 2 pulls, any suggestions as to what to try?
Thanks.

Answer
Most of the Tecumseh hard starts are carb related.  I have had to clean some carbs a couple of times before they worked properly.

Once in a while the primer bulb needs to be replaced, but rare.  If you clean the carb again, and it still hard to start you may want to replace the primer bulb.

Also, make sure all the intake gaskets are good and the screws are tight...this can also cause difficult starting.

Let me know what you find.  Normally those engines do start on the 1 or 2 pull.
