Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawnmower running horrible, touch of water, fuel mixture

Question
I let my lawnmower sit out over the winter and now it runs horrible... i took out the old fuel and put in new fuel and added a touch of water remover. now it just barely throttles and revs up then stalls... revs up then stalls over and over. i tood the carb and tank off trying to find a richness screw to adjust the fuel mixture (it smells VERY rich) but i cant find one. its a murry mower with a 4.5 horespower briggs and straton. help =(

Answer
Hi James,

Many carbs now don't have any mixture screws.  You most likely have dirt, debris, water or gummed fuel inside the carb.  You will need to remove it, disassemble, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.

Let me know how you make out.
