Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LAWNMOWER REPAIR, leak fuel, needle valve

Question
MY BUDDIES CARB LEAKS GAS OUT OF THE AIR FILTER AFTER HE SHUTS IT DOWN. WE REPLACED MAIN JET SEAT AND ADJUSTED THE FLOAT AND NEEDLE VALVE AND SEAT.WHY WOULD IT STILL LEAK FUEL? I HAVE A BRIGGS IN WHICH THE PRIMER BULB DOESN'T BRING FUEL TO CARB TO START IT BUT IT WILL START IF I ADD GAS DIRECTLY TO CARB.BAD PRIMER BULB?

Answer
It would only leak fuel if there is a problem with the needle and seat or the float.  I recommend you re-check what you have replaced and adjusted.

It is more likely that you have a blockage or something stuck in one of the check valves in the primer bulb circuit causing this problem.  You would need to thoroughly clean the carb to correct.

Hope this helps.
