Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): bolens riding mower, snapper mowers, troy bilt

I bought a used bolens riding mower. It is model number 2028, a 28" single blade deck, with a 8hp B&S engine. I am beginning to think it was a bad purchase because I can't find any belts or a new blade. Do you know where to get any parts for this thing or if any other mower parts interchange? It looks exactly like some snapper mowers I have seen but I think I read that they were made by troy-built. Any ideas?

Bolens were built by, at least marketed, under Troy Bilt.  As far as parts, I would e-mail Troy Bilt or try to locate a dealer near you.

I have only worked on a few Bolens, many years ago, but don't recall seeing  a 28" single blade deck.  I would think you could find an aftermarket belt, but the blade may be a little more difficult.

Do you have the original belt?
